Recycling & Environmental

As a family owned and managed business, we are committed to ensuring the sustainability of our business and minimising our environmental impact through a range of initiatives:

  • We’re working hard to ensure our products come from sustainable sources and can be recycled
  • To help minimise packaging waste we’ve recently invested in reusable trays for the supply of our gel packs for larger volume orders and encourage other customers to consider this initiative too
  • We’ve been working on a research and innovation project with the University of Nottingham, looking into the latest developments in bio-based packaging and insulation materials and their potential for temperature-controlled product distribution
  • We’re committed to expanding our eco product range to bring the best options to our customers

We often get asked if our gel packs can be recycled so we’ve put together some responses to the most frequently asked questions to help with this.

Yes, they can be refrozen and used as ice packs for keeping food chilled.  They’re also useful for helping treat injuries where ice needs to be applied.

Yes, our packs are fully recyclable. Once defrosted cut open the pack and pour the non-toxic solution down the drain. Rinsing with hot tap water will help dissolve the gel faster. The plastic outer can be recycled according to your local recycling regulations.

No, the gel is non-toxic and a food-safe solution.  It is also drain safe.

Once defrosted cut open the pack and pour the non-toxic solution down the drain. Rinsing with hot tap water will help dissolve the gel faster. The gel pack content has been certified as drain safe.

Our gel packs contain a non-toxic salt solution, so we wouldn’t advise using them in this way.  The best way to dispose of the contents is to pour it down the drain with some hot tap water.

We manufacture and supply gel packs and thermal packaging solutions for the transport and delivery of temperature-sensitive goods.
